What the Thwaites 1 tonne dumper is for

A dumper moves spoil and materials from where you are working to where they need to go. One load does the work of a lot of wheelbarrow trips, and your back will notice the difference by lunchtime.
Ours is a high-tip model, so it lifts the skip and tips straight into a builder's skip, not just onto the ground. Four-wheel drive means it copes with soft garden ground and site mud.
Most people hire it alongside a digger. The digger fills it, you drive it to the skip or the spoil heap, and the job keeps moving. It is just as useful for bringing sub-base, sand or blocks in from the drive to the back garden.
Where people go wrong: overloading it with wet clay, and driving across a slope. Travel straight up and down slopes, keep the skip low while you move, and only raise it when you are stopped at the tip point.

Questions we get asked
Do I need a licence to hire it?
No licence or ticket is needed to hire from us or to operate the machine on private property. We hand over the machine on site, walk you through the controls and the daily checks, and the operator guide stays with the machine.
Do I need insurance?
No insurance needed to hire. You're responsible for the machine while it's with you. You can get a hired-in plant insurance quote at checkout.
Is there a deposit?
No deposit and no trade account. We keep the card you pay with on file and only charge it for damage or loss, under our hire terms.
What access width do I need?
The dumper is 1,115 mm over the tyres, so allow a gap wider than 1.21 m. The roll bar folds down if you need to get under a low doorway or scaffold.
What does delivery cost to Dudley or Walsall?
Transport is £40 each way for the first 10 miles, then £1.80 per mile after that. Dudley and Walsall are both inside the first 10 miles, so both are £40 each way. Checkout prices your exact postcode before you pay.
Is there a weekend rate?
No. We charge for every 24 hours, so there is no weekend rate. Friday to Monday is 3 days: £220 for the 1 tonne dumper.
