What the BOMAG BW120 roller is for

A roller compacts. You use it on the sub-base under a driveway, patio or path, and on tarmac once it is laid. Get the compaction wrong and the surface sinks or cracks within a year.
The BW120 is a twin drum roller with 1.2m drums. That width suits driveways, paths and small yards, and it gets far better compaction than a plate on a larger area.
Access: the drums are 1.2m wide, so you need a bit more than that to get it onto the job. Tell us the narrowest point when you book.
Where people go wrong: laying all the sub-base in one thick layer and rolling the top. Lay it in thinner layers and roll each one. On tarmac, keep the drums wet so the material does not stick to them.
Why hire this roller from us
- No insurance needed to hire. You're responsible for the machine while it's with you. You can get a hired-in plant insurance quote at checkout.
- Under three years old and low hours. On a roller the hours matter more than the age.
- A digital safety check is done and recorded before every hire.
- Handed over in person by our own trained team.
- Online booking 24/7 takes about 60 seconds, with an instant price, no deposit and no account.
Questions we get asked
Do I need a licence to hire it?
No licence or ticket is needed to hire from us or to operate the machine on private property. We hand over the machine on site, walk you through the controls and the daily checks, and the operator guide stays with the machine.
Do I need insurance?
No insurance needed to hire. You're responsible for the machine while it's with you. You can get a hired-in plant insurance quote at checkout.
Is there a deposit?
No deposit and no trade account. We keep the card you pay with on file and only charge it for damage or loss, under our hire terms.
What access width do I need?
The drums are 1.2 m wide but the roller is 1.3 m at its widest, so you need more than 1.34 m of clear access and firm ground to unload onto. Tell us at booking if the only way in is through a house or a narrow entry.
What does delivery cost to Dudley or Walsall?
Transport is £40 each way for the first 10 miles, then £1.80 per mile after that. Dudley and Walsall are both inside the first 10 miles, so both are £40 each way. Checkout prices your exact postcode before you pay.
Is there a weekend rate?
No. We charge for every 24 hours, so there is no weekend rate. Friday to Monday is 3 days: £295 for the roller.
