Tight access in Birmingham
More than one in four Birmingham households live in a terraced house (27.8% in the 2021 Census), including the Victorian terraces that still line Balsall Heath. If the only way into your garden is a passage or a narrow gate, measure it: the K008-5 needs 75 cm.
Pair it with the KM55 hydraulic breaker to lift old concrete yards and paths. The breaker fits the K008-5 only, so it is the combination to book when there is concrete to come up.
If spoil or a skip has to sit on the road, Birmingham City Council needs a permit first. It charges £238 a week when a skip permit is applied for after the skip is already down.
Before the K008-5 arrives
- Measure the narrowest point, including gate posts and downpipes: More than 75 cm is enough.
- Book the KM55 breaker at the same time if there is concrete to lift.
- Search LinesearchbeforeUdig (LSBUD) for cables and pipes before you dig.
- Plan where the spoil goes: a skip on the road needs a council permit.
Questions we get asked
How much is delivery of the micro digger to Birmingham?
To central Birmingham (B2) it is £52.42 each way ex VAT, based on 16.9 road miles from WV4. Postcodes in the west of the city are nearer and cheaper; checkout prices yours exactly.
Can I break concrete with it?
Yes. Add the KM55 breaker at £70 a day ex VAT. It fits the K008-5, not the U17-5.
Will it fit through my house?
It needs 75 cm of clear width. Board the floors and protect the door frames first, and tell us about any steps when you book.
Do I need a licence to hire it?
No licence or ticket is needed to hire from us or to operate the machine on private property. We hand over the machine on site, walk you through the controls and the daily checks, and the operator guide stays with the machine.
Do I need insurance?
No insurance needed to hire. You're responsible for the machine while it's with you. You can get a hired-in plant insurance quote at checkout.
Is there a deposit?
No deposit and no trade account. We keep the card you pay with on file and only charge it for damage or loss, under our hire terms.
