Using the U17-5 on a Cannock job
In the 2021 Census 46.7% of Cannock Chase homes were semi-detached, the highest share of any town we deliver to. Most have the metre of side access the U17-5 needs, and once through it opens its tracks to 1,240 mm for a steadier dig.
Cannock, Hednesford and Heath Hayes grew on coal. Before footings or a soakaway, check the free mining risk map; if your plot is in a Development High Risk Area, building control will expect a mining report.
For a new drive, Staffordshire County Council takes a £137 assessment fee for the dropped kerb and wants a space at least 4.8 m deep. The U17-5 digs out behind it and the dumper clears the spoil.

What does mini digger delivery to Cannock cost?
£44.68 each way to WS11 ex VAT: £40 for the first 10 road miles and £1.80 for the 2.6 miles after. Cheslyn Hay is a little cheaper and Hednesford a little dearer; checkout prices your postcode.
Should I check for old mine workings first?
If you are in a coal mining Development High Risk Area, yes. Check the free mining risk map before you dig footings, and stop and call 0800 288 4242 if you hit a void.
Can I add a dumper?
Yes. The Thwaites 1 tonne high-tip dumper is £70 a day ex VAT and comes on the same delivery.
Do I need a licence to hire it?
No licence or ticket is needed to hire from us or to operate the machine on private property. We hand over the machine on site, walk you through the controls and the daily checks, and the operator guide stays with the machine.
Do I need insurance?
No insurance needed to hire. You're responsible for the machine while it's with you. You can get a hired-in plant insurance quote at checkout.
Is there a deposit?
No deposit and no trade account. We keep the card you pay with on file and only charge it for damage or loss, under our hire terms.
